UPDATE: May 21, 2020: EMC Canada and other publishers are no longer providing the valuable data used in this model, therefore not only could I produce the final 2019 numbers, 2020 Q1 stats are only available at a high level. Once the data is available from Statistics Canada, I’ll create a new model and report format for it.
Electric Vehicle Sales in Canada has now reached a 3.5% market share in the passenger vehicle segment. British Columbia leading the way with an amazing 10% and 7% in Quebec since the Federal Rebates have been introduced back in May 2019.
The third quarter Sales units at 16,091, a 25% increase vs. 2018 Q3.
The top selling Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) were:
Tesla Model 3 at 5,529
Chevrolet Bolt at 1,122 and
Nissan Leaf at 1,093.
The top 3 Plug-In Hybrids (PHEVs) were:
Toyota Prius Prime at 2,467
Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV 1,048 and
Ford Fusion PHEV at 648.
The slight decline in this quarter now reduces my projected 2019 total sales to be slightly less at 56,226 (down by 75 units).
